What is WebMCP?

A Google + Microsoft web standard (W3C, Chrome 2026) that lets a website tell an AI agent what it can do there: search products, book an appointment, send an enquiry. The agent doesn't guess at buttons, it calls tools — in the user's browser, with their login, no API keys.

Does this work today?

Partly. Chrome runs WebMCP as a public origin trial, Shopify and Cloudflare switched it on for millions of sites in August, and Gemini in Chrome will be the first agent to call the tools. What works right now: llms.txt, schema.org and an open robots.txt — that's why ChatGPT and Google AI recommend you today. WebMCP tools are the preparation for the next step; whoever has them is first.

Does it work on WordPress, WooCommerce, Shopify or a custom site?

Yes. WordPress/WooCommerce gets standard tools via a plugin, Shopify already has them (we add custom ones), custom sites get our open-source packs with one line of code.

What do you need from me?

Access to the site (WordPress admin or FTP/Git) and a 30-minute call about what agents should be able to do. Start in 3 working days, custom tools in 5–7.

What about visitor data?

Tools run in the visitor's browser. Every tool that sends personal data requires the agent to obtain explicit consent first. Your existing forms are used; nothing goes to third parties.
